The Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles tangle in Seattle on Thursday Night Football on the NFL Network.
The Seattle Seahawks were a playoff team a year ago but it doesn't look like year two of the Pete Carroll regime will yield the same results. Sometimes in order for teams to take a step forward they need to take a step backwards and as Carroll continues to make the Seahawks his team with the shifting of the personnel there are going to be growing pains along the way. Qb Tarvarius Jackson has completed 59.1 percent of his passes for 2,065 yards with nine touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Marshawn Lynch is averaging just 3.9 yards per carry as he has 706 yards and six touchdowns while carrying the load in the backfield. Doug Baldwin has 37 catches, Sidney Rice has 32 catches, and Ben Obamanu has 28 catches as they all have two touchdowns each. Defensively Seattle has 20 sacks, 10 fumble recoveries, and 12 interceptions and they are even in turnover margin while allowing 340.5 yards per game and 21.1 points. Earl Thomas has 73 tackles, Chris Clemmons has 8.0 sacks, and Kam Chancellor has 63 tackles and three interceptions. Seattle is traditionally one of the toughest places to play and in a night game it is going to be especially loud.
The Philadelphia Eagles are perhaps the most disappointing team in the NFL this year and could rank among one of the biggest disappointments in quite some time. Andy Reid has been one of the most successful head coaches but with the failure of a team with such high expectations his future with the team is in jeopardy. Michael Vick is injured and his status for this one is up in the air after having missed the last two games and Vince Young has gotten the start but either way this combination throws way too many interceptions with a combined 14 touchdowns and 16 INT's. LeSean McCoy is having a monster year averaging 5.3 yards per carry for 1,050 yards and 11 touchdowns and he's carried the load with only Vick getting more than 20 carries. Jeremy Maclin has also been banged up and he has 46 receptions and four touchdowns, Jason Avant has 43 catches, Brent Celek has 42 catches, and DeSean Jackson has 39. The Eagles defense has 30 sacks, five fumble recoveries, and 11 interceptions and they are minus nine in turnovers while allowing 344.6 yards per game and 22.8 points. Jamar Chaney has 68 tackles, Kurt Coleman has 57 tackles, and Jason Babin has 10 sacks. Like most teams struggling in the win-loss columns it's the turnover margin which is absolutely killing the Eagles.
Seattle is 3-1-1 against the spread against a team with a losing record, 5-1 against the spread in their last six games against the NFC, and 5-2 against the spread in their last seven home games. Philadelphia is 7-2 against the spread following a double digit home loss, 4-10 against the spread in their last 14 games overall, and 0-5 against the spread against a team with a losing record. The road team has covered six in row in this series.
